Amazing Torque! Great Bike. Review by steve iow

Having done my homework and researched various e bikes and the technology behind them, i purchased a tonaro bighit from phil at powerpedals. WOW what a bike. it genuinely climbs up those steep hills, very good climbing power. i ride for up to 30 miles a day at work, patrolling 100 acres and still have never run flat yet! The throttle extra, is a good choice. tonaro crank drive the best by far. great torque/ low battery consumption. Get one and save on petrol costs!! but get a five quid gel seat cover from ebay ,because after a couple of rides the seat is hard on your backside!! a big thank you to phil at powerpedals for the great customer service, and after-sales emails.

One of my better purchases Review by Nigel

Tested bike on a flat ½ mile just on throttle and found motor cut at 14.7 and restarted at 13. I then took the magnet off the rear wheel I got 17.7 one way and 18.3 back with the occasional 19 (possibly a gust of wing).
As for range, now that I’m used to the bikes gearing and when to change, it can get me from Douglas to Peel and back (approx 18 miles) with a couple of lights left (when stopped). (42 mins each way). As for around town it’s absolutely brilliant, the extra couple of mph makes all the difference when coming out of Douglas up hill and equals my times in the car. Taking parking into consideration then easily beats it. Everywhere I go people are still asking me about it and yesterday afternoon we missed a traffic light sequence while talking to the car driver at the front!. So far I’ve covered approx 115 miles and I’ve changed the seat for a gel one, the original was ok around town but the longer trips to Peel needed something more relaxed for my size of frame.
All in all a great machine and I’m extremely happy with it. I think that the reason I’ve waited so long is, like others, the design of the bikes just didn’t seem right and the price of petrol, insurance and road tax has shot up.
My thinking at the moment is towards, do I really need the car?, it costs £160 minimum a month to run, plus servicing tyres cleaning etc and the bike, well, charging at home (rarely) a can of oil, a chain, and tyres once a year. Within 7 months it should have paid for itself and if I can cope with the winter months, use Tesco delivery and can live with the fact I’m slimmer and fitter, why bother? Taxis and busses would be the same expense as I use them now when I go for a drink or meal.
Just had phone call from Electric tram company and bikes travel free north to Ramsey (where there’s a charging point) and a small charge on the steam train to go south to Castletown (another point)
This may have been one of my better purchases!! 

Astonishing value for money Review by Gwethall

I have delayed reviewing my new Tonaro Bighit, to give any faults a chance to develop and ensure there are no teething problems, But now after three months of almost daily use, except in the worst of the snow, though rain and mud and freezing temperatures without missing a beat, I feel confident enough to extol it's virtues.
The suspension frame looks modern and attracts some admiring looks, but it also provides a very smooth ride. A small gripe here, although I am getting used to it, the saddle is not the most comfortable I have come across, and I think I might invest in one designed for a wider load. The bike is slightly heavier than some other makes I have tried, but it has the power to cope and there is no resistance or drag at all when the motor is switched off so it is easy to ride without power when required or the terrain allows. In fact the weight is in a way reassuring, as you feel there has been no compromise in the strength or build quality to save a couple of pounds (Kilograms for younger readers). The controls are quite basic, one switch on/off, and one switch to select one of three levels of assistance. The battery charge level is indicated by a row of lights incorporated into the top of the LED front light. So no bells and whistles, but to be frank I'm not that interested in knowing how hard the battery is trying, or how hard the motor is working, nor do I need a speedometer to tell me if I am traveling at a speed I am comfortable with. To me basic is good, less to go wrong.
The range has been surprising given how hard it has to work to assist me over the hills in North Devon, on numerous outings of twenty plus miles it has returned me home with two of the four battery capacity indicator lights still illuminated. So; it looks good, it's uncomplicated, it's a pleasure to ride, it's reliable, and it has staying power, but above all else, what really stands out, is it's ability to climb hills. It really is a buzz to approach a huge hill, drop down a couple of cogs, turn the power level up and feel confident you are going to pedal to the top.
I'm sure there are equally good bikes out there from other manufacturers, but at this price this bike is astonishing value for money.

Very happy customer Review by Ceri Shepherd

After reading all the reviews and trying a Hub powered bike and a Panasonic powered bike. I went and bought a Tonaro Bighit. This was a bit of a risk for me as i had not tried the Tonaro. To say that i am delighted with my purchase is somewhat of an understatement, this is a superb electric bike. It is very well made with a far higher specification than similar bikes for the same price. It looks really good, rides very well and is powerful. We have a huge hill close to where i live, that goes on and on. Today we also had a powerful head wind. I dropped down a few gears selected high power assistance and up i went, no problems at all, GREAT. The suspension works very well on this bike and gives a good ride on the rough roads. The only fault that i can find and this is a really small one, is the saddle is quite firm. The quality is very good, and the build strength can only be described as INDUSTRIAL which i like as it promises many years of hard use.

The service from Phil at Powerpedals was special. Good Old fashioned customer service and that never goes out of fashion. In this day and age so many things are hyped way beyond the reality. The Tonaro Bighit delivers, i am a very happy customer.

Best Electric MTB Available Review by Mark_In_Kent

Having researched all other available electric bikes which not only resemble a Mountain Bike (MTB) but could also be used as a MTB I kept coming back to the BigHit.

It performs well off road and on road, impressive torque, handy lights and can be upgraded at a later stage i.e. front suss/forks, pedals etc.

Despite a Heavy Contender compared with performance MTB's in can hold its own at your local woods as long as you avoid the jumps and water/ditches...

Fantastic Service from Phil both pre sale and post sale.

I am sure that you will be chuffed as I am when you get yours delivered.

Even better than I expected Review by Paulus

I picked this bike because 1) I think it looks great and 2) having the power applied directly to the pedal crank means the gears work properly. At the bottom of a steep hill simply change down and twist the throttle - and up you go! The first 20 mile trip around Poole Bay was a joy - all the fun of cycling but suddenly the hills and head winds had been swept away! It's great fun off-road too and makes climbing so easy. The quality of the bike is great and very easy to ride. I have been delighted with the service received from Phil at PowerPedals - I thoroughly recommend them to supply you with a powerful and unique electric bike backed with great old fashioned service.
