Unicorn
Product Description
The TONARO crank drive technology is a patented design and is not offered anywhere else. This technology is your best choice for style and function. The entire drive system is housed within the pedal cranking system. This design allows more climbing power with lower battery usage.
The crank mount motor enables the bikes gears to be used with the motor. This allows you to down shift for hills and to shift up to higher gears as you gain speed. The pedals freewheel like an ordinary bike. You can pedal when you want or even rotate the pedals backwards even while using the throttle. There are no wires attached to the front or rear wheels as there are with a hub drive, this also allows for easy changing and removal of both the front and rear quick-release wheels.
Unlike hub motors there is no resistance or drag from the motor when the power is switched off, , so it can be ridden as comfortably as a traditional bicycle when assistance is not required. This can greatly increase the range. There is no loss of traction in wet or slippery conditions or on steeper inclines as there is with front hub drives, and it has an even distribution of weight and is better balanced than rear hub drives, it is virtually silent, and the entire drive system is maintenance free.
With the TONARO system you select how much or how little assistance you require when climbing an incline or riding into a headwind, you can even take a break from pedalling and use the twist grip throttle alone if you choose. You are in complete control. If you choose to speed along the flat in top gear with almost no effort, you can do so, if you want a vigorous workout and choose to ride up hills with little or no assistance, you can, it’s entirely up to you.
The Unicorn is built with full suspension and disk brakes. Quality components make the Unicorn easy to ride.
Lithium batteries combined with the low power consumption of the crank mounted motor allow you to travel farther.
A 36 volt, 10 amp hour lithium battery pack provides plenty of power for even the toughest hills
What is Central Drive Technology?
Central Drive Technology which apart from YAMAHA, has gained the support of SANYO, PANASONIC and many other manufacturers. The biggest advantages of Central Drive System are as below:
1,High torque.
Unlike Hub-type motors, the Central Driven System uses mechanical transmission by derailleur (rear gears) to change torque which means the maximum torque is 98N.M rather than hub motor’s 40N.M. Please check chart below;
That means the Central Driven System can climb up 25-28 degree slopes while Hub motor without can only climb 8-10 degrees.
At the same power (W), the Central Driven System gets higher torque than a hub motor. As you can see in chart A, the 200W central driven system motor performs better than a 350W hub motor, the torque of the 200W central driven system is equal to 500W hub motors.
f2,Low and central weight point.
Most electric bikes have the motor on the hub, either at the front or rear wheel which affects the weight balance by 3-5 kgs. This affects control and maneuverability.
Our Central Driven System has the motor and reducer box in the middle of the frame to evenly distribute the weight. It steers like a traditional bicycle which is especially important at high speeds.
3,Resistant Force.
There is a clutch in TONARO System, if the power is off no resistant force will be felt when pedaling the bike. Hub motors cannot compensate for the resistant force resulting in extra strain on the rider.
